Dedicated to the memory of Jack Lees

Learn More. Ask Questions. Be Kind.

Jack had completed the second year of his neuroscience degree when he attended a Wild Swimming trip to Bude in Cornwall with the ‘Wetheads’ the University of Bristol Students’ Union Wild Swimming Society, in early June 2024. Three students got into difficulty in a riptide and Jack and his best friend swam out to help them. Having brought the first two students back to shore, Jack swam out for the third student. Jack was taken by the force of the current, all three students survived because of the actions of Jack and his friend.

At Bristol, Jack developed several groups of friends. He loved his degree, and talked in detail about his laboratory practicals on brain samples, and how he always struggled to get lab coats and gloves big enough to fit him as a 6’3” man with large shoulders.  He loved weight training, Cross Fit and wild swimming on a Sunday morning. He had found people at Bristol whom he adored, and who loved him.
